Congress Policies

IPA Publishers Congress 2026 – Kuala Lumpur

The IPA Publishers Congress is an event of the International Publishers Association, hosted locally in Malaysia by the Malaysian Book Publishers Association (MABOPA). By registering, delegates, sponsors, and participants agree to the following policies:

1. Cancellation & Refunds

  • All registrations are final and non-refundable, regardless of circumstance.
  • If a registered participant is unable to attend, a substitute from the same organisation may be nominated by providing written notice to the Organiser.
  • If the Congress is cancelled or postponed by the Organiser, all registrations will be transferred to the new dates. Refunds, if applicable, will only cover amounts not already committed or spent on event arrangements, and may exclude administrative or unrecoverable costs.

2. Disclaimer of Liability

  • MABOPA is not liable for personal injury, loss, or damage to property during the Congress.
  • Speaker views do not necessarily represent IPA or MABOPA.
  • The Organiser is not responsible for external materials shared.

3. Force Majeure

  • MABOPA is not responsible for delays, cancellations, or changes due to circumstances beyond reasonable control (e.g., natural disasters, political unrest, pandemics, government orders).

4. Media & Recording

  • Attendance implies consent to photography, filming, and recording.
  • MABOPA and IPA may use images and recordings for promotional, educational, or archival purposes.
  • Delegates may not record sessions without prior written approval.

5. Code of Conduct

  • Respectful, professional behaviour is required.
  • Harassment, discrimination, or disruption will not be tolerated.
  • MABOPA reserves the right to remove violators without refund.

6. Data Protection

  • Delegate information is managed by MABOPA in compliance with the PDPA 2010, and GDPR where applicable.
  • Data will only be used for Congress-related purposes unless additional consent is given.

7. Insurance

  • Delegates are responsible for their own travel, medical, and liability insurance.
  • MABOPA accepts no responsibility for such costs or losses.

8. Governing Law

  • These policies are governed by the laws of Malaysia, including the Contracts Act 1950, Consumer Protection Act 1999, and Copyright Act 1987.
